I have not too thick, waist length, silky hair. The straightener is great. I use it to create soft curls rather than as a straightener. I have never had my hair burnt or anything...the temperature settings are perfect. Also it is nicely built so that you dont accidentally burn you hand or ear. Great purchase for the price.

For 20 bucks it's a nice straightener. For full price, nah. It's OK. It glides nice on your hair, I'll give it that. It does a good job of straightening, but not any better than my regular metal iron.

Great flat iron. I've used more expensive ones that didn't work half as well. I have very tight curls and this iron gets my hair pin straight, and never any static problems. Going out in the rain and humidity has not given me a bit a trouble. I'm ordering another one for backup and also one for a fellow curly haired coworker. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

My older sister has this flat iron, and it was so great that I bought another one for our other sister as a birthday present. At first, I was a little hesistant because I hadn't heard of the brand before, but it really gets the job done (better than the iron from a well-known brand too). Yes, it gets pretty hot, but thats what you want right? Just be careful(: All in all, for the price that it is, this iron is really good, and I recommend it to everyone.

I have very curly hair, and have only been able to get my hair completely straight a few times in my life. It usually requires lots of smoothing serum, and using one of my friend's pricey Chi straightners. It always takes at least an hour to get it somewhat straight so it's never been worth the effort to me. After finding this one on Amazon, and seeing the price and reading the reviews I had to order one. It arrived in 3 days and I decided to "play" with it that night before going to dinner with my family. To my amazement, it COMPLETELY straightened my hair in about 15 minutes!! I was blown away! I used no smoothing products, and only had to go over most pieces once. I had to go over some of the curlier areas a few times, but I still have NEVER gotten my hair this straight in such a short amount of time! My family was so surprised when I showed up at dinner with smooth, straight hair! It's nice to finally have options for different hair styles after 28 years of curls. Great when straight

This is my second Hot Tools Flat Iron. The first one was given to me in 2004 and still works well. The coating has chipped/worn off so I purchased a new one at the same time I replace a Hot Tools Hairdryer. This flat iron is awesome and will straighten my thick, course, wavy hair. It is true that at time a few strands of hair will catch at the hinge or between the plate and plastic. To avoid this I use smaller sections of hair at one time and rarely have problems. I like that I can adjust the temperature. I've used the flat irons with brass plates and it gave terrible results and fried my hair at the same time. I highly recommend this product and would have given it five stars if it wasn't for my hair getting caught although rarely.

the product that i received is not the same as the product shown. The one i received is much cheaper and i am not pleased! i have used the Hot tools straightener model 3199 which is shown in the picture but it is not what i received.

To large

I got this product and when I opened it I realized this was going to be to big and bulky for me. I have short, curly and thick hair. I sent it back right away and I never did recieve my refund. However, I did complain this to Amazon and they took care of the problem right away, I should be refuned in 10 days or so. Thanks Amazon.

A FAKE!!!!

I purchased these irons and got a notice from Amazon that the actual Farouk company made them aware that the seller was not selling an authentic product. Kudos to Amazon.com for not only notifying me, but refunding ALL of my money. They work ok, but definitely are not a Chi product. However, I got to keep them and they are better than my normal 15.00 flat irons ;-)

USED!

I ordered 2 Chi straighteners from this website, and they originally only sent one. I had to email them again to have the second one sent. Although the product was listed as "new," it is obvious that both straighteners were previously used. (They didn't even come in a full Chi box). The straighteners work just fine, but don't be fooled-these are not brand new.

Flimsy power cord

Flat iron worked fine until it was out of warranty period and developed internal break in power cord. Farouk refuses to send replacement cord at any cost so my wife now has a worthless $100 flat iron. Power cord, which should last indefinitely, is very poorly designed.

Gets really hot

I owned a previous hot tools product and broke on the way to Mexico. I had the one that works like a curling iron. I think I prefer that on better. It takes some getting use to. It does not seem to clamp as tight as the previous one. Still, I really like it.

Very disappointed in this product

I have used hot tools many times in the past, including their flat irons. However, this particular one does not clamp down tightly on your hair - I have to clamp it, and then with my other hand close it tightly, and then run it through my hair. It is annoying and adds time to my hair styling. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I bought this expecting it to work nicely, but no. It doesn't straighten a thing. Barely even heats up. I am now going through the process of having to return it and get my money back. It was a huge waste of time and money. Don't waste either.

One worked and one didn't

I ordered the two inch about a year ago. It still works fine. I decided to upgrade to the three inch about a month ago. It broke after the first use. One works and one doesn't.

The product is great especially for the price! I have owned this exact iron twice in the past and always come back to it.You can good a good 3/4 yrs out of the iron, comparable to CHI or T3.The heat is perfect for thick or coarse hair and the plates dont pull or cause damage.If you want a warranty for the product do not buy it on amazon, all online purchases void the warranty. Discount Jungle had fast shipping though the price of it could have been a little lower considering it was being shipped from within my same city!

I previously bought a HairArt H3000 Deluxe but it wasn't the professional model. After a year one of the plates fell down (I later learned that I could glue it back). The professional iron that I just purchased works great. Being an African American woman, my hair texture is naturally coarse and curly. With this new iron, it takes me half the time to straighten my hair out. It leaves my hair soft and very manageable (as though I had a relaxer). I love it. I do recommend that you use a heat protector on your hair as well as good judgments on your heat setting.

I used to have this type of hair iron back in 2003 and not only did it last me 4 years but it did an awesome job!! This time I ordered it, I don't think it does the job as good as before but it is definitely better than all the other ceramic hair irons I have tried.

Works fine, just a whole lot smaller than I thought it would be. Thought I would get it for travel. Really only works on the bangs and hair around my face. Too hard to use it with all of my hair.

Not as good as the first one

I am sorry to say that this flatiron is quite inefficient. This is the second one I have owned and I find it hard to believe that they are the same. The first heated up nicely but this new one not so much. I would not recommend it.

I bought this item for my son to use and didn't realize how small it was going to be, I know it says mini but it's very small, I guess works ok, it just takes a little longer in the bathroom then the reg. size straighteners.

I am an african american and i have a short haircut. this iron is perfect for the shortest hair along the back of my head.it is easy to handle the hair either to curl it or straighten. the only complaint i have is that it gets so hot it can burn both your hand and your hair if you are not very careful.

I tried this mini iron at my hairdresser's and fell in love with it. It is much easier to manipulate than the full size Chi and works just as well. I checked my local beauty supply place and similar irons were over $50. I now use the mini iron almost exclusively and I highly recommend it.

Love the crimping iron, used in for dance competition (daughter). Got really hot, crimped fast, 4 sets of plates included. We used the 2" Crimping plates and it worked very well. I would recommend this item to any of our friends.

Really good straightener

I bought this flat iron/crimper today at marshall's and it actually is really good.The flat iron glides through my hair with ease.It leaves my hair flat straight.I bought a chi heat protectant spray for 10 bucks and a hair moisturizer and it really help keep the frizz away.I love how it brings changeable plates so you can crimp or straighten your hair as well as different size plates that match your hair no matter the length.It brings a bag that you can put the different plates on and a glove that you can use to protect your hands while using it.Trust me you will need the glove because the outside of the plates gets rather hot.The only reason it gets four stars is because it doesn't have heat control(as far as i have noticed).I wanted to use it on my daughter but it gets way to hot for her hair.Otherwise its pretty good.
