My New Hair Cut and Hair Color (Inspired by Farrah Fawcett)
Love the color of your hair or cover the gray but hate the price, especially if you have short, chin length, or thinning hair and is pulling the half of the colors then? Ever wonder how to get more value from a bottle? Me too. And I discovered a system that works very well for me. Here is the exact step by step process I use to get two or more rounds of color of each single color kit.
1) Choose a color system has been re-containers closable. If possible, make sure that the proportions in which the ingredients must be mixed are either 1:1 (better) or something easy to replicate.
2) Go to a pharmacy or a good store of medical supplies and buy a syringe, 2 oz of plastic or two. You may also want a 1 oz syringe touches.
3) If you need extra gloves, any pharmacy will gladly sell to you. They come in a hundred boxes of gloves per box, which should last for a while. Even better, come in several sizes, so if you find the gloves in the color a little tight package, you will be able to get a more comfortable fit if you buy in the drug store.
4) To color your hair all over, using the large syringe. If your hair is short or not more about chin length, half the "normal" amount of coloring ingredients should work perfectly. Fill out the ingredient # 1 ¾ fl oz, then add ¾ fl oz ingredient # 2, for a total of 1 ½ fl oz, while maintaining the syringe bottom of the hole closed. Make adjustments to accommodate his particular brand of hair coloring (quantities that use the Instinct work for semi-permanent Natural Hair Color). Carefully insert the plunger, and shake the syringe to mix the ingredients.
Be careful with the syringe when applying the mixture to your hair. Make sure to point toward the center of the head and look out for stray drips. You do not want any of the things ranging in the eyes, or anywhere else for that matter, apart from her hair.
5) For touch-up jobs (roots) using the lowest of the syringe. This allows use as much or as little as you need for your particular touch of preferences, and it is easier to maneuver too.
6) Another suggestion: I like the semi-permanent color, because it vanishes, which is mixed with growth rather than leaving an obvious line. Until it went out too far, I just made the adjustments from time to time, and a few minutes before the end, I rub a little color (the rest) around the hair to look more uniform.
7) To avoid spots on my skin color, near the line hair, I wear thick moisturizing cream along the hairline, which prevents the color of the solution in. If I find the color anyway, I use the little color the removal of tissues for that exact purpose and are sold at Sally.

But the only problem is that if you get it on your face, neck or ears it will stain for a couple days. The trick is to put Vaseline around your hair, neck and ears. Then after the shower you wont have any dark spots.

Great Stuff by t2 from NYC on 2009-01-15 This little potion will keep years off,why don't all men use it you can go from Old to Bold in 5 minutes its best to use about 2 days before the special day and shampoo for those 2 days to allow it to wash out a little to look more natural if you use on your eyebrows be careful not to get in your eyes and it does stain the skin so you'll have to scrub or promptly wipe off excess with a damp cloth.

Not for Men... a cautionary tale by Svenska MA from on 2008-09-21 I am of Nordic descent. This product left my hair looking a very unnatural shade of brown with gold or brassy highlights... not at all like what the color shows on the box. Also, I found the smell of my hair unpleasant for at least a week... a strange chemical smell. I don't know who the 4 previous reviewers are, but this stuff gets no stars from me. It has been 5 days since I emailed the Just For Men help line and still no response. Phone call... forget it they put you on an eternal hold. Terrible product. JMHO

Sandy Blond Not Available in Stores by DEWinit from Westover, AL on 2010-02-20 I have turned to ordering JfM Sandy Blond Hair Color from Amazon because Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Winn Dixie no longer carry this color in their stores. They carry every other color but this one -- mine. Since I have bought many other items from Amazon, I knew I could get free shipping on orders over $25. So I order either two 3 packs of Hair Color, or one each of Hair Color and Beard Color. I use the beard color between hair color apps to cover roots around the edges. The price per box is less than stores this way, but it is definately a larger outlay for hair/sideburn color than buying it is the stores. But if one con't get it in the stores, this is the next best alternitive.

Great Product by AndySP from Wilson, NC on 2007-09-07 I'm 39 years old and in the last 2 to 3 years the gray hairs have become more and more prevalent. I'm a natural blonde and that helped hide the grays somewhat but recently people started noticing and saying things to me about my gray hair. In January '07 I spoke with my barber and he recommended Just for Men Hair Color. I decided to give it a go and was very pleased with the results. He advised me to go one shade lighter than my natural shade. I'm a dirty blond but chose to go with sandy blond which is lighter. Worked out great. I have been using the product since January and no one ever mentions my gray hair anymore. The product only colors the gray and leaves my natural color the same. I keep my hair relatively short and get a cut every 3 weeks. I use the hair color every other cut. It doesn't last the entire 6 weeks but almost does. I wash it daily and that makes it not last quite as long. I'm pleased with the product as it looks very natural and no one ever notices that I even color my hair. I figure for roughly $7 a treatment every 6 weeks it's not big deal. Takes about 10 minutes from opening the box to jumping in the shower to wash it out. So, $7, 10 minutes every 6 weeks and greatly diminished grays is a no-brainer to me.

Read the directions, and then... if it works great for you... BUY THIS PACK! You're going to save!!!Trying it first recommended because it does cause some people to have reactions. Also, use the cream on the skin near the hair lines, to prevent the dye from dying the skin. Black is better for me, because I have a really dark brown hair (in the sunlight), but otherwise, it's black... and the dark brown just barely highlights. Both actually work for me, but the black is my overall better color.
Not good by from on 2010-01-09 I boght this item thinking it is a shampoo, as the name says, but i found out that it is a normal hair dye, nothing special, and it could give u an alergy too.

I will be a regular reuser, just about once every two months for me(only a handful returned by then) Us men do not have many types of health and beauty products to choose from. It is very simple and easy to use. Read and follow the instructions, I read the other reviews and did not understand how people could not successfully use this product.Do not leave the product in your hair longer than instructed. Itis filled with good things for your hair unlike woman's dies and bleaches. Follow the instructions on how to apply so all hairs are covered, its not difficult or rocket science. It is as easy as a thorough shampoo, letting it sit for a few minutes and then rinsing. Its well worth a little over six bucks to look ten-fifteen younger.

I used a fine tooth comb to distribute the color and the gloves it came with fit my hands easily. There was almost no smell and the smell was gone after I washed it out. It took 2 applications to really get my hair solid black, but I waited 2 weeks to reapply it. Everyone I know loves the look and some even wonder why I look different. Just for Men works exceptionally well by C. Kligman from Southern California on 2009-08-25 My husband uses Just For Men hair color about once every two months. Recently, this product was changed so that the mixing bottle is easier to use and the gloves were improved so they don't rip any more. He leaves the color on for about 5 minutes before washing it out in the shower. I have to say that his hair comes out perfectly colored every time. Originally when he first tried this product he used the black color which when applied looked too unnatural. His hair is black but he found that using Dark Brown worked much better than any of the black colors.

Works great...even thickens your hair by R. Smith from Crown Point, IN on 2009-01-09 I have been using this product for more than 5 years. It is very easy to use. Just pour the colorant into the activator bottle and shake. The tip breaks off when you are ready to use. A pair of throw away plastic gloves are provided: USE THEM! Simply squeeze the bottle into your scalp and work it in. Try to be careful not to leave on exposed skin too long, or you will be rubbing for a few minutes to get it out. I suggest a very light coating of vaseline on your neck, between your ears and sideburns, and along the forehead next to the hairline. This will eliminate any worries that you will have regarding staining.
My method is to get it ready right before I hop into the shower. I have a mirror in the shower to help me apply. I rub it into my hair and work it around for a minute or two making sure to get it into the base of the hairs. The product is thick enough not to run if you are careful. I then take my regular shower and then wash it out thoroughly. Five minutes is typically plenty of time. Use an old washcloth that you don't mind getting stained to rub out the shampoo thoroughly. If you see any light staining on your skin, use the washcloth to rub it out. It will come out without a lot of effort.A nice by-product of the Just For Men is that it noticeably thickens my hair and makes it look fuller, better than any product specifically designed to do this.
Use of Just For Men by Dr. Walter Smith from on 2008-09-02 It will be helpful to read the directions several times and know what you are doing before you begin. Then it's pretty easy to use. First time set your timer for the full 5 minutes, start it after you have placed all the product quickly on your hair. When re-treating I usually set the timer for 3 minutes and start it, again, after all the product is on the roots of my hair. At end of 3 minutes make all your hair wet with product, then count another minute, then quickly wash. My only complaint - I wish they would make the color more permanent, it fades in 2 weeks when washed with even warm water, much more so with hot water, and when exposed to the sun.

Simple and effective by AndySP from Wilson, NC on 2010-06-12 I've been using Just For Men Hair Color since 2007. Up until recently I've been using Sandy Blond with pretty good results but was advised by a barber that since my natural hair is about 25% gray the darker shade may work better for me. I reluctantly tried it and was very pleased with the results. With the Sandy Blond I had to leave the product on my hair 7 or 8 minutes to get the desired color. With the Dard Blond, I leave the product on 4 minutes MAX!! It will get too dark if left on longer than that. But for me, 4 minutes gives me the exact color I am looking. My only complaints with the JFM products is that they are extremely sensitive to sunlight. If I'm in the sun at all I can expect significant fading and it looks bad. So if I'm going to be outside I'll usually wear a cap. However, I've just started using the JFM Shampoo & Conditioner that is supposed to protect against sun and environmental fading. I've used it for 3 weeks now and I think it's working. I only color every 6 weeks. Usually by week 3 the color has begun to fade and by the last week it's all but gone but I will say that I have seen much less fading since using the daily shampoo. Try it. All in all I'm encouraged by the daily shampoo and am more pleased with the Dark Blond. I think the combination of the 2 products is just what I've been looking for......and that is, a natural looking blond color that is resistant to fade and lasts 5 - 6 weeks. I like the product and will definitely continue using it.
I use it on my medium brown hair by Chris from Arizona, USA on 2010-01-27 I'm 44 and started turning gray when I was 25, but it wasn't until a few years ago that it became pretty noticeable and I started using JFM products. It's fast and easy. Some say it permanently stains things, but that's not true. I've overlooked splatters on floor and wall tiles, wood surfaces and countertops before. After sitting for hours, the spots still cleaned up and disappeared. Some spots cleaned up with water, others required a little squirt of cleaner...some wiped right off, others required a little bit of scrubbing.My hair is naturally medium brown in color. I tried the medium brown and it made my hair look very dark brown. I tried light brown and it's ok for winter use, but still darker than my natural color. This one turns the gray to blonde and doesn't darken the brown much. I like it as it looks very natural. It doesn't last as long as I would like it to. When I use the brown shades, it works for 3-4 weeks. This one normally lasts about 2-3 weeks. It also fades more quickly with exposure to sun and chlorine. I'm sure how often you wash your hair will affect it, too. My hair is about 3/4" to 1" long and I wash it daily, shampooing twice. I use a shampoo from the salon that's supposed to be designed to preserve color.I normally use the rubber gloves, but don't put vaseline on my skin along the hairline. I used to put vaseline on my skin when I first started using the product. But, I normally tried to use most of the bottle at once, so it got everywhere. Without vaseline, I just had to scrub my skin with soap along the hairline to get the color off. Without gloves, it gets under my fingernails where it stays for a day unless I take the time to wash it out.I used to treat it as if I had a lot of shampoo in my hair and I scrubbed my head with it. It splattered a lot, so I started using it in the shower. When finished, I could just rinse away all the splatter spots with the shower head. But, I use the product differently now; My hair is short and I only need about half of the bottle. So, I mix about half of it into a seperate bottle and apply it to my hair, then comb it through. I use it in the shower with a mirror to be sure I cover everything. It still splatters a little now and then, but the splatters are normally gone after I shower.Overall, I like the product, I just wish it lasted longer.

Not so great by Hair Dye Reviewer from Phoenix, AZ USA on 2009-04-14 There seem to be some changes to the blond lineup in Just for Men. I can no longer find a dark blond shade; there is only a combo dark blond / lightest brown available (as of Apr 2009). This means JfM has only one blond shade for sale (Sandy Blond). Sandy Blond is probably too brassy for my medium ash-blond hair with 1/3 gray. I purchased the box marked dark blond / lightest brown. The color lineup of JfM leans heavily towards browns.There is only ounce each of color and developer in the package. All other permanent hair color products provide 2 oz of each. This means with JfM you get half the product for the same amount of money. Unless you have very short hair, you will not be able to divide the product into two uses. There are also gloves to protect your hands, and easy to follow instructions.Application was easy and fast. This stuff dyes your hair in 5 minutes or less. Since my hair is fine, I rinsed it off after 4 mins.What I got was a uniform light brown color with slight highlights in my gray hair. There was one area on the side of my head where the tint did not take, even though I know I covered my entire head with the color. No bones about it -- this is a brown shade, not a blond shade. It's not too dark, but it looks brown, not blond.Just for Men also left my hair feeling considerably dried out. I conditioned right after removing the dye, and it still felt coarse. My head of hair was virgin growth and had not been treated in any manner (dye or perm) before coloring it. My hair is fine, and I suspect this product is quite strong, if it dyes one's hair in under 5 mins.My impression is that this isn't a great product for blonds. If you have brown hair that is relatively coarse, then this product will probably work for you. One true blond shade isn't enough color variety. And this shade doesn't look blond. Moreover, the product seems too strong for fine hair and dries it out. Finally, one can purchase a wider variety of shades among women's hair color and get twice the product, usually for less money.

Darker than expected by Chris from Arizona, USA on 2009-10-08 I've been using JFM products for a couple of years now. It's fast and easy. Some say it permanently stains things, but that's not true. I've overlooked splatters on floor and wall tiles, wood surfaces and countertops before. After sitting for hours, the spots still cleaned up and disappeared. Some spots cleaned up with water, others required a little squirt of cleaner...some wiped right off, others required a little bit of scrubbing.My hair is naturally medium brown in color. I tried the medium brown and it made my hair look very dark brown. I tried this one and it's ok for winter use, but still darker than the package would lead you to believe. In the Summer months, my hair gets lighter, so I'm going to try a blonde shade. It doesn't last as long as I thought it would. Normally about 2-3 weeks. I guess it depends on exposure to elements, how often you wash your hair, how long your hair is... My hair is about an inch long and I wash it daily, shampooing twice. I use a shampoo from the salon that's supposed to be designed to preserve color, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.I normally use the rubber gloves, but don't put vaseline on my skin along the hairline. I used to put vaseline on my skin when I first started using the product. But, I normally tried to use most of the bottle at once, so it got everywhere. Without vaseline, I just had to scrub my skin with soap along the hairline to get the color off. Without gloves, it gets under my fingernails where it stays for a day unless I take the time to wash my hands really well.I used to treat it as if I had a lot of shampoo in my hair and I scrubbed my head with it. It splattered a lot, so I started using it in the shower. When finished, I could just rinse away all the splatter spots with the shower head. But, I use the product differently now; My hair is short and never used the whole bottle even when I tried to. Now, I mix about a third of it into a seperate bottle and apply it to a comb, then run that through my hair. I can stand in front of the mirror to be sure I cover everything and it doesn't splatter.Overall, I like the product. It works for me.

Easily be rid of your grey hair (at least on the hair that you have left) by famdoc from FL United States on 2008-07-28 I have using this product for a few years and have found it easy to use, and it will last through several shampoos. Properly applied it leaves your hair looking natural without an artificial look. Follow the manufacturer's directions carefully, because if you leave it on too long the more likely one is to develop some minor scalp irritation. Perform the skin patch test the manufacture recommends to help judge your sensitivity to the dye. You will need to experiment with the timing because if you shampoo off the dye too soon you will be left with grey hair. Also use something like Vaseline along the edges of your hairline as it will dye normal hairless skin. For some of you where there is more scalp than hair, you may to buy Vaseline in barrels... try to keep it on just yourself as it well stain counter tops etc. The key is to remove any excess quickly. The manufacture's directions are good, and mention all of this. This is an excellent product at an very reasonable price. Give it a try!
