Fast, no leak, great value

The product came within about a week. The pump was taped securely and the bottle placed in popcorn, to prevent leaks and damage. Even with shipping, the total was under $20, about the cost of the 5 oz size at most retailers (online and off). This is the only straightening product that resists humidity on my biracial (varying from fine and straight, wavy and medium to coarse coils).I ran out after 2 years, so I was desperate to get it replaced quickly. Hooray for finding a reliable, economical source for one of my must-have hair products.

Although this is product is a staightening Balm...I find it works wonders on my natural curly hair. My hair is smooth...no frizz...no fly aways. And when I do straighten my hair...it is amazingly straight and super shiny!

This product is really the best on the market for an all around styling gel that is also a straightening agent. This product works beautifully. However, I would NOT recommed doing a self application at home. I certainly didn't want to pay out the wazoo to get this done, so I paid for the product at cost and had a friend in the salon business do the application for me. If you don't know what you're doing or do not apply the product correctly you can really screw up your hair. The original application lasted about nine months and I recently had the touch-up application done. My hair is naturally AWFUL. Thick/wavy/frizzy/impossible to manage. It used to take me 45 minutes to an hour to get through the drying and straightening process. After the bio ionic retex I can blow dry and go. It's life changing! My hair feels soft and smooth.

Not as good as expected

It did make my hair straight, but I still have to use the flat iron to make it look silky and natural. Not better than any other straightener. It didn't shorten the amount of time it takes to iron. So far the best permanent straightener I've had is the Chi, done at a salon. My hair stayed the same when it dried and I did not need to use the iron.

I was about 13 when i first tried this product, and it worked INSTANTLY!!!! my hair was soft, silky, and long. it was amazing.i went from crazy, unmanagable hair to silky smooth and soft. I would recomend this to ANYONE. it doesnt damage your hair like other relaxers, and it lasts 6 months. it takes a little while the first time, but the retouches are a breeze. as soon as you wash the first creme out, you cant miss the difference, your hair is instantlt healthy and will stay healthy. It only takes me about 20 minutes to syle my hair right after I get this done. This is the best thing that I have ever tried on my hair, and ive been using it for 2 years now.

I bought this to do myself, even though it is professional use only. I have short hair that is very unruly, coarse and thick. I could get it smooth and straight on my own, but it took too much time. I refused to pay $300 at the salon, so I did this at home.Results: WAY LESS POOFY! Easy to style (it literally took off 20 mins of stlying time.) Shiny and smooth! No damage, it feels better than before!Tips: I did not leave the product on long enough on the more resistant parts of my hair as I should have. I was nervous about damaging my hair, but next time I will leave it longer.-It does not come with gloves or a brush so be prepared. I have short hair so it was easy, if you have longer hair team up with a friend. -Smells bad but do not panic, as soon as you use the 2nd cream the smell goes away.Not salon results the first time, but i'll get better at it! Highly reconmend it, but READ THE DIRECTIONS! Get the trio kit (shampoo, conditioner & gloss), it is amazeing.

This is an excellent product -- but I would not try it at home unless you've had it done professionally for you a few times!!! It does come with fairly easy to follow directions, but unless you've actually seen it done, and know for sure that this product will not damage your particular hair - i just wouldn't take the chance. Also, please note that the directions that a previous reviewer has posted are not quite the same as the ones that come in the kit. Make sure that you follow the directions that come in the box! Also, note that if you have highlighted or previously straightend hair, you'll need to purchase the BioIonic Protein Spray and IonFixx to protect your hair and make the comb-out process a whole lot easier and less damaging. I did not know about these before hand, and went ahead and did it without them - but I did have a lot of breakage with the lightest of my highlights. It basically turned those strands into stretchy doll-like hair which fell like spun sugar on my bathroom floor. At the salon, the whole process took me almost 5 hours. At home, it took 3.5 - from start to finish. To be honest, it didn't come out as pin-straight as it did with my professional stylist, but I actually prefer this slightly fuller result anyway. I'd definitely use this product again at home - but I'm going to make sure to have the protein and Fixx sprays on hand! Good luck!!!

Great product

This is the first Kiehl's product I tried, and is not the last. My hair is thick and wavy and gets very frizzy. I use this product every time I wash my hair and it keeps my hair straight and healthy. Love love it! I tried several leave-in conditioners and hair products but this one is by far the best. I am a customer for life! The directions say that it is good for dry hair as well, but it doesn't work that well on dry hair - I prefer using it on wet hair. BTW it alone does not straighten - you have to use hair dryer and/or straightener. It keeps hair healthy and protects from excessive heat.

I wear my hair curly in the summer but in the winter like to wear it straight and this product mixed with phyto organics veneer shine drops is great. After blowing out your hair, use a flat iron if necessary and leaves your hair shiny and straight.

Too greasy for me

This product does not work well for my thin straight hair. This product makes my hair look very greasy and does not hold well enough. The hold will only last me about half the day. Using too much of the stuff makes it look as if I didn't wash my hair for at more than 2 days.I have used American Crew Forming Cream and Fiber in the past and both have been much better in my opinion.The last thing I wanted to add is the smell. Many others have pointed out that it smells bad. I would say it reminds me of a smell like a very cheap hand wash you would use in a public bathroom or maybe a toilet cleaner. Not what I want to be reminded of when I am putting the product in my hair.I will not be purchasing this product again in the future.

I tried this product based on reviews from amazon. I like it b/c it does protect my hair from my iron and makes it with some volume as oppose to flat, but it doesn't stay for long and for some reason the hair looks dry, you need to use the serum silk to revive the hair. It is ok for the 1st time trial

I really love this gel because it is exactly right for my type of hair - fine curly hair. I have really curly hair but it is like baby hair, very fine and not that thick. This gel gives it just the right amount of hold so my hair stays curly but not stiff. Once my hair is dry and I run my fingers though it, my hair stays curly, not frizzy, and looks great. I highly recommend this stuff if you have curly hair!! Don't worry about the fact that it is called straightening gel, it just seems to hold my curls loosely. Not too tight, not too loose.

Perfect product for fine hair

I have to add my two bits to the reviews for Aquage straightening ultragel. My hair is fine and tends toward being a little frizzy. My hairdresser convinced me to buy it, and I LOVE it. After the first bottle, I tried a couple of other products, then went back to Aquage because the others just don't compare. I think they are intended for thick frizzy hair, because they completely weigh my hair down and make it look dull. I just ran out of the second bottle last week, and again tried another product (because I'm cheap and didn't want to spend $20+ on hair gel). Again, disappointment. I'm buying more Aquage. It's pricey, but lasts a long time - I use a pea sized drop on wet hair, and it works great. If you have fine hair, don't use any more than that. Great product.

This product works wonderfully on my long, straight, semi-frizzy hair. It is sleek and shiny, and feels wonderful and soft, not greasy like with other straightening gels. I am on a tight budget but this is one item that I splurge on because I just can't live without it!

Nice shine, doesn't work

I have "Jewish," frizzy hair and have tried dozens of anti-friz products over the years and none, including this one worked even though it was $24, others were $10-15. Even in our dry climate hair remained frizzy as usual. Don't spend the $ on it. Back to the 4" wide straightening iron and "Spikes" gel that costs $1.50 in grocery store hair products aisle!

Awesome for straightening

As a curly-haired girl, I've been trying to find a good product for blow-drying straight all my life. I've tried pretty much everything at the drug store and even a lot of expensive salon stuff. But ever since I tried this stuff, I haven't bought anything else. It smells good and works really well - it's not going to be as good as a chemical relaxer or anything, but for a leave-in hair product it is really, really great.
