Can I use chemical hair dye after henna-ing my hair few weeks ago?

I henna'd my hair red about a month ago, maybe a little more, and has vanished now loads. I bought some hair dye that I live in boots, a very red, and wondered how I would go as after using henna then. Any ideas?
