My previous straightener lasted 2-3 years, and at 1/4 of the price of the CHI. While the quality of this product is far superior to any others I've used, I would not purchase again.

A friend of mine attended a beauty show in China last winter and the fakes were all over the place. They even had the same box and UPCs.
Love it! by Alice from on 2010-07-27 I've been using this straightener for over a year now, and it's awesome! It leaves my hair super soft and smooth, and heats up quickly. It also doesn't cause any damage to my hair (I use a heat protectant with it, which probably helps). Even in fog, mist, and wind, which usually make my straightened hair really frizzy, it stays nice and straight. The price is pretty high, but if you're going to be using it more than once a week, I really think its worth it.

Disappointed by S. Naphade from Columbus, OH USA on 2009-12-02 I travel a lot and the reason I purchased this iron was because it has dual voltage. However, to my disappointment, the product does not live upto the claims made.... I have really thick and curly hair and this iron at best makes my hair wavy (does not flatten it out completely). I have also had a Herstyler iron for a long time, which also has ceramic plates and delivers negative irons and, though a little more expensive, it does far better than the Iso Professional Tourmaline (i guess u get what you pay for !). Unfortunately, the Herstyler is not a dual voltage iron.

I own a Paul Mitchell flat iron as well that cost approx. $120.00 and I would say this $40.00 flat iron does as good of a job if not better than the Paul Mitchell. It is dual voltage which is why I bought it. I am currently serving overseas and am not able to use my Paul Mitchell iron so the dual voltage is able to be plugged directly into outlets overseas without blowing any breakers. I would definately recommend this product and will use this as my back up iron to travel with in the future.

The plates are not real ceramic and after a few uses the "ceramic" coating starts to peel off. It does not distribute heat evenly and actually ends up burning your hair. Please do your self a favor and just pay extra money to get a good quality flat iron. I know that the chi might be a little over priced but it works way better than this.

My other one was the exact same size and straightened my hair in less than half the time. This one simply does not get hot enough to straighten my medium length, thick, and wavy hair. My hair isn't even warm after running the straightener through it. Because of this, I waste so much time! If you have thin or short hair, it might work, but I would still suggest trying a different product.

I have very frizzy, wavy hair and by passing it slowly through the shaft of hair, you can get your hair board straight. I also use a heat spray and that makes it even easier. The thermal protection of the spray along with the ceramic plates, gets your hair silky smooth. a very good buy for the money! Heats really fast too! Revlon really does make decent hair products.

As good as hoped for by E. Rogers from on 2010-03-17 I recently tried my sister's GHD which she brought over from Australia and was impressed with how quickly it heated up and how easy it was to create different hairstyles. I was persuaded to get my own, especially when I saw what a great price it was on Amazon (cheaper than what my sister bought hers for in AU). It has worked very well so far, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'll be traveling to Australia soon so I'll be able to test the universal voltage, however I'm not anticipating any problems as my sister's worked fine in both Australia and North America.

It's great for straightening and curling, so it's very versatile. It's light enough that I always take it on vacation with me, and although it doesn't specify that it can operate at 220V, I've used it in Europe without any issues or needing a power converter. Definitely recommend it for anyone who want's the flexibility to straighten or curl their hair.

I love the ceramic iron, and once you've used ceramic, you really can't go back to regular metal. And having a straightener and a huge roller all in one is a great idea! Also, my hair is naturally wavy, so this iron tames it and give it a little body where I want it, and not where I don't!I actually ordered this as a replacement to my old one, which I had for at least 5 years. But my toddler threw it on the ground and broke it, so for the time I had to wait for it to be shipped to me, it was like losing an arm!

Great when straight by R. Traynham from Columbia, SC on 2010-06-21 This is my second Hot Tools Flat Iron. The first one was given to me in 2004 and still works well. The coating has chipped/worn off so I purchased a new one at the same time I replace a Hot Tools Hairdryer. This flat iron is awesome and will straighten my thick, course, wavy hair. It is true that at time a few strands of hair will catch at the hinge or between the plate and plastic. To avoid this I use smaller sections of hair at one time and rarely have problems. I like that I can adjust the temperature. I've used the flat irons with brass plates and it gave terrible results and fried my hair at the same time. I highly recommend this product and would have given it five stars if it wasn't for my hair getting caught although rarely.

This flat iron has cut that time down to about 30-45 minutes. Love it. She can even do it herself. It does get VERY HOT and of course because it is 2 1/2 inches you can get through more hair faster and not have to continually go over the same hair because it does get so hot. Amaziningly enough it does not burn the hair. Even at the highest temp my daughters hair still looks soft and not fried. A hair dresser used it on my daughters hair and thats how we found out about it. Very inexpensive compared to others. We even tried other 2 1/2 inch irons from Sallys and returned them because they did not work as well as this one. Highly recommend! Don't waste your time trying others this is the best! Plates Don't Touch by 3r1c4 from USA on 2010-07-07 So, after reading all of the excellent reviews on this iron, I purchased it. The item arrived in a timely manner, and I was excited. I opened the box and took the iron out of its packaging. Wo was I when 'trying out' the iron in my hands, I noticed that the plates do not close all the way when you clamp down. :/ The front end was the only spot the plates touched together. The rest of their length was left open by at least a full centimeter. I can see how it would straighten thick, coarse hair just fine. But for my own fine/thin strands, there is just no way this iron could get the job done. So sad. Especially because return shipping is going to be at least $10, so it's like paying $14 just to find out a product doesn't work for you. Ridiculous. I'm entirely bummed.
